Surveyor in Training – Land Survey Department

JOB POSTING

Assists RPLS in application of principles, methods and techniques of Land Surveying duties.
Responsible for drafting detailed drawings, to include boundary, right-of-way, and topographical surveys, profiles, cross sections, subdivision plats, property exhibits and other similar types of drawings and maps to be used for the transfer of real property, planning, development and design of civil engineering projects.
Occasionally performs field survey work as needed.

Prepares schedules and instructions for field staking and coordinates with field crew as needed.
Produce working sketches, produce topographic and ALTA surveys
Performs calculations and Prepares CAD Drawings and other documents for a variety of projects, including boundary, right-of-way, topographic and title surveys, plats, easements etc.
Review title commitments and deeds
Conduct real property research
Analyze field data and create final plats
Understanding of use of required field survey equipment
Understanding of and proficiency with mid-level math skills
Solid knowledge of proper retracement of land boundaries
Familiarity with state plane coordinates systems, geodetic calculations and grid to surface calculations
Solid documentation skills (boundary analysis and decisions)
Proficiency with AutoCad Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center software, MS Office
Complete multiple assignments successfully through effective multi-tasking and prioritizing
High attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Effective problem solving/analytical skills
Ability to work with a team or independently as needed

Two plus years’ field experience as Party Chief
TBPLS Surveyor-In-Training Certificate (SIT)
Driver’s license and acceptable driving record (for cross-functional assignments with field survey employees)
Prior experience with AutoCAD or Trimble Business Center software
Desire to obtain RPLS certification
High school diploma or GED
